For Autumn/Winter 2016, adidas introduces Day One, a premium capsule collection that will explore, elevate, and celebrate a new facet of the adidas DNA. Informed and considered, Day One resides at the intersection of sports and leisure, placing adidas’ performance expertise in a lifestyle context. Each piece is executed with the key elements of style, attitude, innovation, and confidence. The debut range zooms in on running and outdoor, two categories that have been central to the innovations-driven German sportswear label for decades.
Change begins on Day One. That is the premise of this season’s running and outdoor offering, which utilises some of the most forward-thinking adidas technologies in a streamlined aesthetic. These are classic clothes with a lifestyle intention that speak to the dynamic, fast-changing needs of a modern nomad. Executed entirely in a palette of blacks, greys, olives, and camouflage, the collection can be seamlessly integrated into a wearer’s daily repertoire.
The running range yields sport apparel essentials and exclusive adidas footwear offerings. Constructed of a singular quilted fabric made in Japan, the Ultralight Jacket is imagined as autumn’s ultimate zip-up with utility pockets, 2-way zips, reflective 3-stripe details, and adidas Climalite technology. The Utility Jacket is a minimalist re-envisioning of the city slicker’s parka, composed of a breakthrough, laminated woven fabric and complete with storm cuffs, storm-proof closures, and adjustable elements. The Tech Bomber is triple-layer insulation in a functional rib fabric that promises lightweight warmth and breathability. Other essentials—from the Camo Tee and Leggings to the Waffle Crew—provide the backbone of a runner’s wardrobe. When it comes to footwear, the Ado Pure Boost ZG comes zooming into the future featuring a Prime Knit camouflage upper and Pure Boost tooling.
The outdoor collection, meanwhile, offers more substantial outerwear and the season’s quintessential hiking boot. The rainproof, windproof Gore Parka is a superlative outdoor-intended coat featuring uniquely thoughtful details, like a touch-sensitive iPhone pocket, as well as articulated sleeves and adjustable, storm-proof elements. The Storm Shell is a modern anorak boasting refined design details like a dropped back hem and a transparent front pocket for an iPad or documents. The Utility Vest is a slick, tailored take on the outdoorsman’s essential, offering lightweight Primaloft padding, storm pockets, and an adjustable hem.
Sophisticated, refined, and innovative, Day One heralds the future of adidas lifestyle. The running collection drops in Ocotber 2016, and the outdoor range arrives in November. Available on adidas.com and retailers worldwide.
Select pieces from the Day One Adidas Consortium collection will release this Friday October 14th at Select (318 Richmond).
